A fond farewell to a club champion

The Burra's A grade team will be without Wayne Buckland this year after he has decided to give up the game he has been so passionate about. In a heartfelt annoucment to the team, Wayne explained that it was time to hang up the gloves and enjoy his time watching the youngsters come through.

For more than 10 years Wayne has played at the highest level possible for Mount Barker as a headline bowler and extremely handy batsman. His dedication and commitment to both the game and to the Burra's as a club ahs been second to none. It has been inspiration to so many over the years.

In the past 10 years, Wayne has taken home an impressive number of trophies from Mount Barker's presentation nights, as well as several A&EH Association awards. In more recent times, Wayne has offered his experience as a playing coach to the A grade side and provided mentoring to the young bowlers breaking into the side.

Wayne's dedication to the club as a player, committee member, coach and captain through some difficult times for the club will never be forgotten.

From everyone at the club, thank you for being part of the team, the committee and the Burra's family. We look forward to seeing you on the sidelines watching the next crop lead the club to success.
