Lobethal in complete control as the Burras go down once again
Making the scenic journey to Lobethal oval and without the talents of Rhys Paterson (questionable unavailability), our Mighty A grade Burras were in for a tough test. A disciplined bowling unit, with the on-field antics to match Lobethal were sure to come out firing on all cylinders hoping to finish the game quickly and get on with the nights festivities.
Things looked up early for the Burras as skipper Jackson Lane won the toss and elected to bat first. However, unlike the improving weather that is as bright as things got for this Burras unit, as Lane once again falling to the dreaded pull shot (0). With a slow outfield and a strong bowling unit things fell apart very quickly for the Burras slumped to 6-31. Knowing that this reporter was making his way to the crease, the elder Paterson (Chris) had already commenced putting on his keeping gear; expecting the innings to be over as quickly as it began.
As the Lobethal antics in the field heated up, youngster Decklan Porter (12 off 51) shielded Dunbar (19 off 41) from the strike in attempts to preserve some pride for this batting unit. Unfortunately, unable to get this attack away the Burras were unable to set anything closely resembling a competitive total. Lobethal set a mere target of 65. Keen to start the celebrations early Matthews (21 off 34) and Week (29 off 35) wasted no time in chasing down the total, doing so in 11.3 overs.
The Burras make their first appearance at the newly named Kookaburra Homes Showgrounds this weekend against a fired up Callington unit. First ball at 12:30pm
